REMARKABLE TREES OF ROMANIA

Protecting ancient trees and wood pastures

Transylvania holds a big proportion of Europe's medieval wood pastures of extraordinary natural and cultural value. These ancient trees are threatened by farm modernisation or negligance. We would like to turn peoples' attantion on special trees throughout Romania.

Our project aims to identify thousands of remarkable trees throughout Romania; collect their location, picture, trunk perimeter and other relavant information in a database and visualize them on Google maps. On the picture left HRH Prince Charles is registering the first tree in the database near Miklósvár, Transylvania.
