In 2025, the Transylvanian Országépítő Kós Károly Association (OKKE) celebrated its 20th anniversary. The Hungarian Kós Károly Association’s Transylvanian sister organization was founded by the internationally known Hungarian architect Imre Makovecz. Its aim is to preserve and enrich Hungarian culture and community in Transylvania, following the intellectual legacy of Károly Kós, the great Transylvanian arts and crafts architect of the 20th century.
The association is primarily composed of architects, alongside landscape architects, visual artists, regional development professionals, and other intellectuals who value the authentic cultures of the Carpathian Basin and the traditions of multicultural coexistence. OKKE’s work is guided by a dual commitment: responsibility toward heritage and active, creative participation in the present.
To mark its 20th anniversary, the association produced a 50-minute documentary film summarizing its activities over the past two decades, introducing its members, and giving voice to those whose work connects to OKKE’s spirit. Participants discuss their professional work, its relation to the association, and reflections on OKKE’s achievements so far.
A total of 17 interviews were filmed in locations including Gheorgheni, Miercurea Ciuc, Păuleni-Ciuc, Sfântu Gheorghe, Ilieni, Cluj-Napoca, and Budapest.
The film was financed through a grant application submitted by our association to the Hungarian Academy of Arts. Its premiere took place on October 23, 2025, at the main hall of the Székely National Museum in Sepsiszentgyörgy (Sfântu Gheorghe).
